When you go to add a note in a person's record, you have to select the drop down of the search to add the note (or it defaults to the person's file). I would suggest graying/lining out the closed searches. Maybe allowing you to ADD to a closed search but this way you can quickly view and identify the correct search. I know that you recommend doing notes through the project view but sometimes, the people vies is easier.
